Practice practice practice...... did I mention practice?
If you want to improve your public speaking and presentation skills, you have to practise. And it's at the club meetings that you will get the opportunity to practise, polish and perfect your skills.
Club meetings are every two weeks throughout the year, excluding August..... see above for dates.
All Club meetings and contests are 7.15pm for 7.30pm and finish at around 10.0pm.
At each meeting members give an assortment of prepared speeches, impromptu speeches and presentations.
If you would like a hard copy of the dates, please download our programme, which is in PDF format.
The PDF is best printed double sided.
You will need a PDF reader to view this file, but If you don't have a PDF reader you can download a free one from the link below.
Practice, practice, practice.
A tourist stops a police officer on the street in Yew York City. The tourist asks, “ How do you get to Carnegie Hall? ”
The officer says, “Practice, practice, practice.”
Don't worry, it's not all about practising your public speaking, we also have a few social events.
A Christmas dinner, summer social and lots of inter club meetings. All chances to practise those public speaking and presentation skills.
We find that many members join Sans Souci in order to improve their public speaking skills and end up staying because they make so many friends.
Don't worry if you can't attend all of the meetings.
The more meetings you attend, the quicker your skills will improve. But we all lead busy lives and attend meetings as often as we can.
The Education Director will set you assignments, which you can complete in your own time and present when you attend.
In short, you attend meetings, which best fit into your schedule.
At each meeting an advanced programme is issued, which sets out who is doing what for the next few meetings. This allows you to plan your speeches and presentations and work on them between meetings.
You can speak about anything you want..... apart from sex religion and politics. And when you join you will be presented with a copy of "The Speakers Guide", which takes you through writing and presenting a speech in easy step by step stages.
